Site Context
The project is located at the edge of a rural settlement in Sari, adjacent to agricultural fields. The calm setting and humid climate of the region provide a suitable foundation for designing a small-scale contemporary residence. The surrounding landscape, soft boundaries, and open views played a key role in defining the architectural approach.
Design Concept
The design is driven by simplicity, functionality, and a sense of tranquility. Generous natural light, expansive views, and a strong visual and spatial connection between interior and exterior spaces shape the core of the project. Full-height openings, verandas, and terraces act as breathing elements, allowing year-round interaction with the outdoors. The black exterior finish creates a controlled contrast against the lush green surroundings, giving the building a distinct visual character.

Ground Floor:
• Integrated living and dining area with kitchen
• Direct access to a covered terrace (approx. 16 m²)
• Two bedrooms (one master)

Climatic & Functional Strategies
• Use of double-glazed windows, fixed shading, and cross ventilation for humidity control and improved thermal comfort
• Opening orientations designed for balanced daylight and enhanced interior views
• Clear circulation paths to optimize efficiency and reduce unnecessary movement

• Structural system: Light Steel Frame (LSF)
• Envelope: Economical, low-maintenance materials combined with double-glazed glass
• Flooring: Durable, washable surfaces suitable for humid climates

The Black House is conceived as a compact, intimate retreat that sits gently within its rural context rather than dominating it.
